This is a very nice trilobite specimen from the Devonian of Morocco. There are two different types of trilobites on the block. Both are natural to the piece - there has been no compositing done to this magnificent specimen. An extremely inflated Phacops speculator is on the left side of the block. This bug exhibits wonderful detail. The pustules on the thick-shelled exoskeleton are easily seen. On the right side of the block is a slightly curled Hollardops. This 3-dimensional trilobite has the pygidial lappets and the tips of the genal spines prepared in a free-standing manner for optimal display. Both trilobites have excellent eyes - the individual lenses of the compound eyes are easily seen. The black trilobites contrast well with the lighter-colored matrix. The arthropods are beautifully presented on the sculpted block of dense limestone. This is an outstanding specimen of two different trilobites that has been artfully prepared to its maximum potential.
