Here is a wonderful US trilobite. This is a complete example of Alokistocare sp. from the Middle Cambrian of Utah. This specimen was found by Steve Hess in 1996 and just now prepared. This outstretched trilobite is prone and wonderfully articulated. Both free cheeks are present and tightly attached - which is very unusual for this species. The bug exhibits terrific detail. The eyes of the trilobite are easily seen, and the exoskeleton of the trilobite is covered with small pustules. The many, many individual thoracic segments are wonderfully displayed, and even the tiny pygidium is intact - which is also very rare. The fossil has great color and contrast and is well showcased on a large, squared plate of shale. This is an excellent example of this rare species of Alokistocare from Utah.
