Here is a very fine example of Asaphiscus wheeleri from the Cambrian of Utah. This trilobite is complete and wonderfully articulated. Both free cheeks are present and tightly attached (which is unusual). The bug exhibits very fine detail. The eyes are easily seen and the individual thoracic segments are clearly defined. The large, somewhat smooth pygidium is fully intact. This black-colored trilobite has beautiful, thick exoskeleton that contrasts nicely with the gray matrix. It is well presented on the natural plate of shale which also contains another partial trilobite. This is a great example of Asaphiscus from the Wheeler Formation.
