This is a very beautiful spiny trilobite from Morocco. It is a Ceratarges sp. (Type B) from the Devonian. This trilobite was prefessionally prepared under a microscope in the EXTINCTIONS Prep Lab here in Colorado. This 3-dimensionally preserved trilobite has many long, sweeping spines. The bug has extended genal spines and two pair of broad, flowing spines emanating from the pygidium. In addition to these large spines, each pleuron tip extends into a spine. There are also many short spines between the larger spines on the pygidium. The free-standing horns are easily seen, and the eyes are borne on stalks which have also been prepared totally free of matrix. The bug has thick, dark brownish-black exoskeleton that contrasts extremely well with the light-colored matrix. The bug is beautifully showcased on the large, sculpted block of limestone. This is a fabulous example of a spiny Ceratarges from Morocco.
