Here is an excellent example of a highly collectible trilobite. This is Harpes perradiatus from the Devonian of Morocco. Harpid trilobites are among the most sought-after trilobites among collectors because of their rarity and bizarre design. This type of trilobite has a huge cephalon with a wide brim that extends into broad, sweeping genal spines. The thorax is composed of many, many segments and the pygidium is almost miniscule in comparison. This large specimen is nicely outstretched, which is highly unusual. The bug is preserved in a very 3-dimensional fashion and exhibits great detail. The small eyes are easily seen, and the minute ornamentation of the orange-colored brim is beautifully defined. The thorax is tightly articulated and beautifully preserved. The dark color of the trilobite contrasts nicely with the lighter-colored matrix. The fossil is well showcased on the sculpted block of dense limestone. This is a very collectible specimen of Harpes perradiatus, prepared in-house here at EXTINCTIONS.
