This is a rare European trilobite from the DeRosear Collection. It is an large Ectillaenus giganteus from Ille et Vigaine, France. Doug acquired this specimen in 1988, and it has been in his collection ever since. The trilobite is complete and wonderfully intact. The huge head and pygidium are well preserved (hard to see in photo). The bug has fine detail and is extremely inflated. The natural color contrasts beautifully with the brown matrix. The trilobite is well showcased on the natural matrix plate. This is a very nice quality example of this unusual French trilobite from the DeRosear Collection.
