This is an outstretched Flexicalymene retrorsa from the Ordovician of Ohio. This specimen was recently acquired from the famous Sam Stubbs Collection. This was the first Flexi in Sam's collection, which led to bigger and better things! This complete trilobite is outstretched and 3-dimensionally preserved. The bug is well articulated and exhibits fine detail. Both free cheeks are present and tightly attached. The trilobite has thick, chocolate brown exoskeleton, with the skin missing on a few pleurons, giving it character. The trilobite is nicely showcased on the colorful plate of shale. This is an historic trilobite - Sam's first Flexicalymene.
