This is a very spiny US trilobite. It is a large Ceratonurus sp. from the Devonian of Oklahoma. This specimen was recently acquired from the famous Sam Stubbs Collection. Sam bought this specimen from Bob Carroll in 1995 (see photo of Bob's signature on the bottom of the specimen). This type of trilobite has extremely thin genal spines and occipital spines, which have been meticulously prepared in a free-standing manner on this specimen. The bug is inflated and exhibits wonderful detail. The long, flowing pleural spines are beautifully showcased, and even the tiny ''fringes'' of the free cheeks are intact. The caramel-colored trilobite contrasts strikingly with the light-colored matrix plate. The bug is very well showcased on the sculpted block of limestone. This is a very detailed example of one of the most sought-after trilobites from Oklahoma.
