This is a very colorful spiny trilobite. It is a complete Selenopeltis sp. from the Ordovician Beds of Morocco. This specimen was recently acquired from the famous Sam Stubbs Collection. This trilobite is preserved in dense sandstone, making the bug very inflated and 3-D. The natural red coloration is nicely preserved and contrasts well with the sculpted matrix. The large bug is beautifully articulated and wonderfully showcased on the squared block of sandstone. This is a very nice example of this unusual red trilobite from the Stubbs Collection. (Counterpart is present and included for free.)
