This is an unusual example of two different trilobites from the Devonian of Morocco. This unique specimen is totally natural - it is not composited. This fossil was prepared under a microscope in the EXTINCTIONS Prep Lab here in Colorado. In the center of the plate is a stunning example of Acanthopyge (Lobopyge) sp. This unusual Lichid trilobite has coarse granulations covering the entire surface of the exoskeleton. This distinct trilobite is beautifully preserved. This scarce bug is very 3-dimensional and exhibits excellent detail. The small, protruding eyes are easily seen, and the flaring genal spines are clearly defined. A partially enrolled Phacops is also on the plate. This trilobite is complete and is ''laying on its back''. The bug is very robust and wonderfully articulated. The Phacops has been ''hollowed out'', exposing the hypostoma (mouthplate). The bugs are well showcased on the sculpted block of limestone. This is a remarkable display of two very different trilobites from Morocco.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
