Here is a very nice example of Illaenus schmidti from the Ordovician of Russia. This extremely inflated trilobite is wonderfully articulated and exhibits fine detail. The huge, bulbous glabella is beautifully displayed. The small, widely-spaced eyes are easily seen, and the pointed genal areas are quite evident. The caramel-colored bug contrasts nicely with the light-colored matrix. The extinct arthropod is well positioned on the natural plate of limestone. This is a very 3-dimensional specimen of Illaenus schmidti from Russia.
