This is a rare and unusual Russian trilobite. It is a large Pseudobasilicus lawrowi from the Wolchow River area of St. Petersburg, Russia. This type differs from the more common Basilicus by having genal spines. This specimen has a unique look to it - a very round head and tail, and extremely small eyes. This specimen is very well-preserved and is almost perfectly articulated and outstretched. The trilobite is EXTREMELY inflated, and the thick shell exoskeleton has great color and detail. The trilobite is nicely centered on the large block of sculpted limestone. This is museum quality example of this very sought-after Ordovician trilobite.
