This is a great Phacopid trilobite. It is a large Reedops cephalotes hamlagdadianus from the Devonian of Morocco. This complete trilobite is 3-dimensional and wonderfully articulated. It is nicely outstretched and exhibits fine detail - the individual lenses of the large compound eyes are clearly defined. The fossil has been prepared in high relief so that it is elevated above the level of the surrounding rock. The trilobite has a nice, natural, brown coloration that contrasts beautifully with the light-colored matrix. The bug is well centered on the rounded plate of dense limestone. This is a very displayable example of Reedops cephalotes hamlagdadianus from the Atlas Mountains.
