This is an uncommon Oklahoma trilobite. It is a complete example of Cyphaspis carrolli from the Haragan Formation. This specimen was found by Steve Hess in 1996, and just now prepared. This species of trilobite has an extremely bulbous glabella and very slender genal spines. A long thoracic spine emanates from the sixth segment - this spine has been meticulously prepared in a free-standing manner on this specimen. This trilobite is wonderfully preserved in an outstretched position. The bug is superbly articulated and exhibits great detail. The fine pustules on the glabella are easily seen, and the knob-like eyes are quite evident. The trilobite is extremely inflated and 3-dimensionally preserved. The bug is well showcased on the sculpted limestone block. This is a fine specimen of Cyphaspis with all of its spines prepared free-standing.
