Here is an extremely distinct trilobite. This is Ceraurus sp. from the Cobourg Formation of Ontario, Canada. Ceraurus from the Cobourg Formation are naturally dark in color - not like the cream-colored Ceraurus from the Bobcaygeon Formation. This specimen is curled, which make the genal spines display impressively. The 3-dimensional bug exhibits beautiful detail. The cephalon is covered with coarse pustules. The long genal spines and pygidial spines are wonderfully displayed. This arthropod has extremely thick, blackish exoskeleton and contrasts nicely with the gray matrix. The bug is well prepared on the sculpted block of matrix. This is a very displayable specimen of this classic trilobite.
