Here is an excellent specimen of Asaphus (Neoasaphus) punctatus from the Ordovician of Russia. This large trilobite is extremely well articulated and is almost perfectly prone. The bug is quite inflated and very symmetrical in appearance. Note the large, stalked eyes - a defining feature of this species. The rich, caramel-brown color of the trilobite contrasts wonderfully with the cream-colored matrix. The fossil is well centered on the large, sculpted limestone block. This is a beautiful example of this classic stalk-eyed trilobite from Russia.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
