Here is an unusual Canadian trilobite. This is Bumastoides milleri from the Ordovician. This outstretched trilobite is complete and unusually well articulated. It is much more inflated than most Canadian specimens of this species. This trilobite exhibits fine detail. The small,wide-set eyes are quite evident, and the individual thoracic segments are easily seen. The fossil has great, light brown color and contrasts nicely with the grey matrix. The bug is well centered on the rectangular plate of matrix that also contains a crinoid and two gastropods. This is a wonderful example of this unusual Illaenid trilobite.
