This is a very well-prepared trilobite. It is a Metacanthina issoumourensis from the Devonian of Morocco. This distinct trilobite has been meticulously prepared under a microscope in the EXTINCTIONS Prep Lab here in Colorado, as are all of our Moroccan trilobites. The 3-dimensional bug is wonderfully articulated and exhibits outstanding detail. The individual lenses of the large, crescent-shaped, compound eyes are well displayed and easily seen. The large genal spines and front snout have been prepared in a free standing manner. The dark, chocolate-brown trilobite contrasts beautifully with the light-brown matrix. The fossil is beautifully showcased on the large, sculpted block of limestone. This is one of the better quality specimens of Metacanthina that we have ever prepared.
