Here is an excellent Oklahoma trilobite. This is Huntoniatonia (Huntonia) lingulifer from the Lower Devonian. This species of Huntonia has a long caudal spine which is beautifully displayed on this specimen. This outstretched trilobite is very 3-dimensional and nicely articulated. Both free cheeks are present and tightly attached. The distinct bug exhibits excellent detail - the cephalic process is easily seen, and the flaring genal spines are clearly defined. Some of the individual lenses of the large compound eyes are quite evident, which usually isn't the case. Many times, the eyes of Huntonia are preserved in a collapsed position - but not this specimen. The eyes of this trilobite are very inflated. The caramel-colored trilobite contrasts nicely with the light-colored matrix. The fossil is well centered on the sculpted block of limestone. This is a very collectible example of the ''long-tailed'' Huntonia from the Haragan Formation.
