Here is a large example of Flexicalymene meeki from the Ordovician of Ohio. This specimen was found years ago in Monroe, Ohio, and just now prepared. This is not the more common Flexicalymene retrorsa, it is a F. meeki, easily recognizable by the distinct genal spines on this specimen. This large trilobite is extremely inflated and beautifully articulated. Both free cheeks are intact, which is quite unusual. The thick-shelled exoskeleton of the bug is very complete and finely detailed. The dark brown trilobite contrasts beautifully with the blue-grey matrix. The bug is well presented on the large, natural plate of shale. This is a fabulous Flexicalymene meeki from a very unusual locality.
