Here is a fine specimen of Morocconites malladoides from the Devonian of Morocco. This trilobite is very 3-dimensional and beautifully articulated. This specimen has an extremely long spine extending off the front of the cephalon that has been prepared in a free-standing position and curves into the air at a 45 degree angle. The thick-shelled bug is wonderfully preserved and exhibits fine detail. Almost all of the individual lenses of the compound eyes are easily seen. The black color of the ancient arthropod contrasts nicely with the lighter-colored matrix. The bug is well showcased on the sculpted plate of limestone. This is a very displayable example of Morocconites - the unicorn of trilobites.
