This is a very rare trilobite fossil. It is very collectible Eoredlichia intermedia from the famous Chengjiang locality in China. This site is known worldwide for soft-body preservation of Lower Cambrian animals. The fauna is very similar to the Burgess Shale, but it is OLDER! Many one-of-a-kind organisms have been described exclusively from this formation.
This trilobite is extremely well preserved and exhibits very fine detail. The individual thoracic segments are easily seen, and both free cheeks are even intact. Another amazing feature of this specimen is the axial spine that is still preserved, lying on top of the bottom few axial rings (hard to see in photo). The trilobite has very good natural color and contrast and is well showcased on the natural plate of matrix. This is a very rare and extremely sought-after trilobite from one of the most famous invertebrate fossil localities in the world.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
