This is an excellent specimen of Drotops megalomanicus from the Devonian of Morocco. This specimen was cleaned under a microscope in the EXTINCTIONS Prep Lab here in Colorado, as are all of our Moroccan trilobites. This Phacopid trilobite is not only large - it is EXTREMELY inflated and wonderfully articulated. This specimen exhibits great detail - the surface texture of the thick shell exoskeleton is very well defined. Almost all of the individual lenses of the eyes are easily seen. The black trilobite contrasts nicely with the grey matrix block. The bug is beautifully displayed on the chunk of sculpted limestone. Every trilobite collector should have a Drotops in their collection that is this nice. Unfortunately, there just aren't enough really good ones to go around.
