Here is an excellent specimen of Reedops deckeri from the Lower Devonian of Oklahoma. Recent papers by A.Sandford (2004,2005) have reassigned this species to the genus Lochkovella. This trilobite was found by Steve Hess in 1997 in our trilobite quarry in Oklahoma and meticulously prepared under a microscope in the EXTINCTIONS Prep Lab here in Colorado. This distinct Phacopid trilobite is wonderfully inflated (unusual) and nicely articulated. The trilobite has fabulous detail - the very fine pustules on the entire exoskeleton are still intact. The large compound eyes are well preserved and the individual lenses of the eyes are easily seen. The bug has great color and contrast and is beautifully showcased on the large, natural block of sculpted limestone. This is a top quality example of a very 3-D Reedops from Oklahoma.
