This is an excellent trilobite. It is a beautiful Phacops speculator from the Devonian of Morocco. This specimen has been expertly prepared under a microscope in the EXTINCTIONS Prep Lab here in Colorado. This trilobite is almost perfectly articulated and extremely 3-dimensional. The thick shell of the exoskeleton exhibits superb detail - the preservation is just spectacular. The distinct compound eyes are extremely well preserved - the individual lenses are very easily seen. The black trilobite contrasts wonderfully with the light-colored matrix. The bug is well showcased on the sculpted block of dense limestone. This is a fantastic specimen of this classic Phacopid trilobite from the Atlas Mountains.
