Here is a beautiful trilobite from Canada. This is a complete Wanneria sp. from the Lower Cambrian of British Columbia. This is not the more common Olenellus, which is also found at this site. This trilobite is outstretched and wonderfully articulated. The small, crescent shaped eyes are quite evident, and the genal spines are nicely displayed. Each and every sweeping pleuron tip is intact. This ancient arthropod even shows remnants of the alimentary canal running from the cephalon to the tip of the pygidium. This is a highly unusual preservational feature in the trilobite record. The distinct pygidial spine is also intact, which is quite unusual. The fossil is wonderfully centered on the large, rectangular plate of shale. And this is a rare split pair bug - the entire counterpart is also present and included (not pictured). This is a complete and very collectible Wanneria from British Columbia.
