Here is a fine pair of Lower Cambrian trilobites. These are fine specimens of Olenellus gilberti from Nevada. Both trilobites are very well articulated and exhibit extremely fine detail. The crescent-shaped eyes are easily seen and the long, sweeping pleural spines are clearly defined and beautifully displayed - one bug even has its LONG telson (tailspine) intact. The bugs have outstanding color - the brown coloration of the fossils is quite striking. The trilobites are well positioned on the large, squared plate of shale that also contains other Olenellus parts. This is a very collectible trilobite plate that is over a half a BILLION years old!
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
