Here is a very fine example of Asaphus (Neoasaphus) cornutus from the Ordovician of Russia. This trilobite is extremely prone and very inflated. The fossil is wonderfully articulated and exhibits superb detail - the short-stalked eyes are beautifully displayed. The trilobite has extremely thick, caramel-colored exoskeleton that contrasts quite nicely with the cream-colored matrix. The bug is well centered on the large, natural block of limestone that also contains a 3-dimensional cystoid, Echinosphaerites sp. This is an excellent, outstretched example of this distinct Asaphid from Russia.
