Here is a fabulous example of a classic U. S. trilobite. This is a very large Eldredgeops milleri from the famous Silica Shale deposits of Ohio. This large trilobite was recently acquired from a major trilobite collection. The bug is almost perfectly prone and wonderfully articulated. The trilobite is extremely 3-dimensional and exhibits fantastic detail. The large, compound eyes are practically flawless - the honeycomb of individual lenses is simply pristine. The pustulose glabella is nicely displayed ,and the texture of the thick-shelled exoskeleton is superb. This bug has natural, rich brown coloration that contrasts beautifully with the light grey matrix. And at 2 3/4 inches long, this critter is almost as big as they get. This is an extremely sought-after example of Eldredgeops right out of a major collection.
