Here is a very fine example of Scabriscutellum furciferum from the Devonian of Morocco. This specimen was microscopically prepared in the EXTINCTIONS Prep Lab here in Colorado, as are all of our Moroccan trilobites. This unusual-shaped trilobite is quite uncommon - it is very rare to get one this well preserved. This 3-dimensional trilobite is very well articulated - much better than most specimens of this trilobite. This extremely inflated trilobite exhibits great detail - the short, pointed genal angles are easily seen, and the holochroal compound eyes display the tiny facets in fine fashion. The pointed pleuron tips are intact, and the large, broad pygidium is beautifully displayed. The natural, dark coloration of the bug contrasts strikingly with the lighter-colored matrix. The fossil is wonderfully showcased on the natural block of sculpted limestone. This is a very well prepared specimen of Scabriscutellum.
