Here is an excellent specimen of Asaphus (Neoasaphus) cornutus from the Middle Ordovician of Russia. This trilobite is extremely inflated and wonderfully articulated. It is almost perfectly prone, and the thick-shelled exoskeleton is beautifully preserved. The large eyes stick up above the sleek carapace of the trilobite. The rich caramel-brown color of the bug contrasts nicely with the light-colored matrix. This trilobite displays well in the center of the natural block of limestone. This is a very clean example of this classic Asaphid trilobite from Russia.
