Here is a very rare trilobite from Russia. This is Megistaspis laticaudata from the Lower Ordovician. The cephalon and pygidium of this unusual trilobite are extremely triangular in appearance. This outstretched trilobite is quite 3-dimensional and nicely articulated. Both free cheeks are present and tightly attached. The crescent-shaped eyes are easily seen and the thin, sweeping genal spines are wonderfully displayed. The butterscotch-colored trilobite contrasts nicely with the light-colored matrix. It is very well centered on the large, natural block of limestone. This is a fine example of an extremely uncommon, prone Megistaspis.
