This is a very nice specimen of Calymene niagarensis from the Silurian of New York. This trilobite is inflated and wonderfully preserved in an outstretched position. The bug is well articulated and exhibits great detail. The thick brownish-black exoskeleton of the trilobite contrasts beautifully with the grey matrix. The fossil is aesthetically positioned on the rounded plate of shale. This is a very displayable example of Calymene niagarensis from the Rochester Shale.
