This is a fabulous example of a very rare U. S. trilobite. It is a complete Dechenella lucasensis from the Devonian of Ohio. This specimen is from the famous Silica Shale deposits that produce beautiful Phacops trilobites. This fossil was found many years ago and was recently acquired from a major trilobite collection. This outstretched bug is fully inflated, the free cheeks are tightly attached, and the eyes are easily seen. The trilobite exhibits great detail - the beautifully preserved exoskeleton still has the surface pustulation and axial nodes intact. The dark brown color of the fossil contrasts wonderfully with the grey matrix. The bug displays perfectly in the center of the squared plate of shale. This is a top quality example of one of the most sought-after trilobites from Ohio. Good luck finding a better one!
