Here is a beautiful trilobite from British Columbia. This is a complete Wanneria sp. from the Lower Cambrian. This is not the more common Olenellus which is also found at this site. This trilobite is outstretched and wonderfully articulated. The small, crescent shaped eyes are quite evident, the genal spines are nicely displayed, and every sweeping pleuron tip is intact. This ancient arthropod even shows remnants of the alimentary canal running from the cephalon to the tip of the pygidium - this is a highly unusual preservational feature in the fossil record. The long, pygidial spine is also intact, which is also quite unusual. The fossil is wonderfully centered on the squared plate of shale. The excellent counterpart of this trilobite is also included, making this a fully complete split pair. This is a beautifully preserved and very collectible trilobite from the Lower Cambrian of Canada.
