Here is a very scarce trilobite from the Silurian Sea. This is Radnoria sp. from the Rochester Shale of New York. The trilobite is wonderfully prone and very nicely articulated. Both free cheeks are intact. This specimen is more inflated than most and has very thick exoskeleton. The bug exhibits great detail - the eyes are easily seen, and the broad, flat brim of the pygidium is quite evident. The genal spines extend almost to the pygidium and terminate in sharp points. The Radnoria is nicely centered on the squared plate of matrix that also has many brachiopods on the back side of the plate. This is a very nice example of this rare trilobite from New York State.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
