This is a very attractive US trilobite. It is a complete Modocia typicalis from the Marjum Formation of Utah. This prone trilobite is nicely articulated and exhibits wonderful detail. Both free cheeks are present and tightly attached. The arching genal spines are clearly defined, and the pointed pleural spines are easily seen. The reddish-brown color of the bug contrasts beautifully with the pinkish-tan matrix. The fossil is well showcased on the large plate of shale that also contains at least one complete Agnostid trilobite. This is a very pretty specimen of this spiny Modocia from the Middle Cambrian.
