This is simply a beautiful spiny trilobite. It is a complete Psychopyge elegans from the Atlas Mountains of Morocco. This awesome trilobite was meticulously prepared in the EXTINCTIONS Prep Lab here in Colorado. This type of trilobite has a LONG, pointed snout, long genal spines, long tailspines, and over 30 vertical spines down the back. This specimen displays all of these features beautifully. The snout, genal spines, and tailspines are all intact and very well preserved. The occipital ''horn'' and the entire array of 30+ back spines have been prepared free-standing - quite impressive! Both compound eyes are perfect - we do not see one missing facet on either eye! And the striking brown-black coloration is fully natural - extremely unusual coloration for a Psychopyge! This is the most symmetrical, most colorful, and most displayable Psychopyge we have ever had - and the eyes are perfect!
