Here is a rare trilobite. This is a large specimen of Asaphus delphinus from the Ordovician of Russia. It is very easy to see the differences between this bug and the more common Russian Asaphids. This type of trilobite has distinct eyes, a very pointed cephalon, and a triangular pygidium. This trilobite is nicely outstretched and extremely well articulated. The bug is very 3-dimensional and exhibits great detail. The natural, dark caramel color of the trilobite contrasts beautifully with the light-colored matrix. The trilobite is wonderfully centered on the rectangular block of limestone. This is a very displayable specimen of this highly collectable Asaphid trilobite from Russia.
