This is a nice outstretched specimen of Breviphillipsia sampsoni from the Mississippian of Missouri. Most trilobite collectors know that complete trilobites from the Mississippian are extremely scarce. This specimen is inflated and nicely articulated. The trilobite exhibits fine detail - the exoskeleton is covered with small pustules, especially on the glabella. The specimen has natural brownish coloration that contrasts nicely with the grey matrix. The bug is well positioned on the squared plate of matrix. This is a fine example of Breviphillipsia from a site that is no longer producing specimens.
