This is a very rare invertebrate fossil. It is Naraoia (Misszhouia) longicaudata from the famous Chengjiang locality in China. This site is known worldwide for soft-body preservation of Lower Cambrian animals. The fauna is very similar to the Burgess Shale, but it is OLDER! Many one-of-a-kind organisms have been described exclusively from this formation.
Many experts argue whether Naraoia is a true soft-bodied trilobite or a ''trilobitomorph'' imposter. Either way, Naraoia is one of the most interesting and talked-about arthropods from both Chengjiang and the Burgess Shale. This specimen is ventrally preserved, displaying its legs, gills, and digestive gut in impressive fashion. Under magnification, the minute detail of this bug really comes to life. The fossil is very well centered on the squared block of classic Chengjiang matrix. This is an extremely collectible ''trilobite'' from one of the oldest and most famous soft-bodied fossil localities in the world.
