This is a massive Russian trilobite. It is a large Asaphus (Neoasaphus) cornutus from the Ordovician. This trilobite is well over four inches long and is nicely outstretched and extremely 3-dimensional. The thick-shelled, caramel-colored bug contrasts wonderfully with the light-colored matrix. The trilobite is beautifully displayed on the large, sculpted block of limestone - natural, not composited. This is very fine Russian trilobite that just happens to be huge.
