This is a very uncommon Asaphid trilobite. It is an Asaphus latus from the Lower Ordovician of Russia. This type of Asaphid trilobite has large eyes and a rounded cephalon. This specimen is complete, nicely inflated, and wonderfully articulated. The bug is well preserved in an outstretched position and exhibits fine detail. The distinct eyes are easily seen, and the individual thoracic segments are clearly defined. The caramel-colored bug contrasts strikingly with the lighter-colored matrix. The fossil trilobite is beautifully showcased on the sculpted plate of limestone. This is an extremely displayable example of this unusual Asaphid trilobite.
