Here is one big-eyed bug! This is a complete Coltraneia (=Treveropyge) prorotundifrons from the Devonian of Morocco. This is a very difficult trilobite to obtain in good condition - and this one is superb! One glance will tell you what this trilobite is famous for - the huge compound eyes that are elevated above the glabella. This trilobite must have been able to see almost 360 degrees. Both eyes on this specimen are nearly perfect - just look at the photos! The trilobite is very 3-dimensional and extremely inflated. This wonderfully articulated specimen has striking, dark brown color and contrasts beautifully with the sculpted grey matrix. And, again, this specimen has the best preserved eyes of any top quality Coltraneia that we have ever seen. This is a fabulous example of one of the most sought-after non-spiny trilobites from Morocco - this bug will never have to be upgraded!
