Here is an excellent example of a highly collectible trilobite. This is Harpes perradiatus from the Devonian of Morocco. Harpid trilobites are among the most sought-after trilobites among collectors because of their rarity and bizarre design. This type of trilobite has a huge cephalon with a wide brim that extends into broad, sweeping genal spines. The thorax is composed of many, many segments and the pygidium is almost miniscule in comparison. This large specimen is nicely outstretched which is highly unusual. It is preserved in a very 3-dimensional fashion and exhibits great detail. The small eyes are easily seen and the granulose ornamentation of the brim is beautifully defined. The thorax is tightly articulated, and even the pygidium is intact, which is rare. The dark color of the trilobite contrasts nicely with the lighter-colored matrix. It is well centered on the somewhat natural-edged block of sculpted limestone. This is a very collectible specimen of Harpes perradiatus, prepared in-house here at EXTINCTIONS.
