This is a fabulous US trilobite. It is an outstanding example of Cyphaspis carrolli from the Haragan Formation of Oklahoma. This specimen was found by Steve Hess in 1996, and just now microscopically prepared in the EXTINCTIONS Prep Lab here in Colorado. This species of trilobite has an extremely bulbous glabella and very slender genal spines. A long thoracic spine emanates from the sixth segment - this spine has been meticulously prepared in a free-standing manner on this specimen. This trilobite is large for the type, and is wonderfully preserved in an outstretched position. The bug is superbly articulated and exhibits great detail. The fine pustules on the glabella are easily seen, and the knob-like eyes are quite evident. The trilobite is extremely inflated and 3-dimensionally preserved. It is well centered on the natural block of sculpted limestone. This is a fantastic specimen of Cyphaspis that simply displays beautifully.
