This is a very nice trilobite trace fossil. It is a Rusophycus pudicum (trilobite resting place, or ''nest'') from the Ordovician of Kentucky. This Rusophycus was probably made by a Flexicalymene trilobite. The ''nest'' is very 3-dimensional and is well positioned on the natural plate of limestone that represents the seea floor bottom. No trilobite collection is complete without one of these fossils. It is a very detailed and collectible trilobite trace fossil.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
