This is an extremely nice spiny trilobite. It is a large Dorypyge swasii from the ''Elrathia Beds'' of Millard County, Utah. This specimen was found in 1996 and just now microscopically prepared in the EXTINCTIONS Prep Lab here in Colorado. This trilobite is complete and very well articulated. The genal spines are quite evident, the thoracic pleurae terminate in short spines, and the long pygidial spines are nicely displayed. The trilobite has a distinct occipital spine and many axial spines that have been prepared in a free-standing manner. The trilobite exhibits very fine detail and has superb color and contrast. The bug is almost perfectly centered on the sculpted block of matrix. This is a beautifully prepared example of this spiny trilobite from Utah.
