This is a classic Canadian trilobite. It is a Pseudogygites latimarginatus from Ontario, Canada. This specimen was recently acquired from the DeRosear Collection. This is a juvenile - most complete examples are about 2-3 inches long. The bug is well articulated and has great detail preserved. The trilobite is nicely centered on the semi-rectangular plate of oil shale. This is a wonderful example of a baby Pseudo from the DeRosear Collection. (Note - Pseudogygites is similar to Isotelus, but not the same in a few obvious ways - Pseudos have ribs on the tail, eyes with large facets, and they do not possess a median suture crossing the doublure that the other asaphid trilobites have!)
