This is a classic US trilobite. It is a complete Neometacanthus calliteles from the limestone of the ''Basidechenella Site''. The specimen was found over 15 years ago and was recently acquired from an old collection. This type of trilobite has large, compound eyes, long, thin genal spines, and many long pygidial spines - all of these features are clearly defined and beautifully displayed on this specimen. The inflated bug is wonderfully articulated and exhibits great detail. The trilobite has very nice color and contrast and is well presented on the sculpted block of Centerfield Limestone. This is an excellent example of this highly sought-after trilobite from New York.
